Southern Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Geoff Duncan for Georgia Governor

The Southern Regional Council of Carpenters is proud to endorse former Lt. Gov. and Democratic candidate Geoff Duncan in his bid for governor of Georgia. We believe Duncan will stand up for Georgia’s working families as governor. During a tour of Carpenters Local 283 in Augusta, Duncan spoke with members and leadership about the importance of funding apprenticeship programs and creating pathways for union contractors to bid on work in the state.

At the Carpenters Local 225 monthly meeting in Atlanta, Duncan committed to repealing the ban on project labor agreements in the state. He has also pledged to hire someone from the labor movement as an adviser on his staff for all economic investment initiatives and more.

“We are confident that Duncan understands the importance of protecting workers’ rights and strengthening pathways to economic opportunity,” said Kavin E. Griffin, Executive Secretary-Treasurer and CEO.

As an ally to the working class, we believe Duncan is the right person to lead the state. His commitment to apprenticeship training and union labor gives us hope that the future of Georgia will include safety-trained individuals who receive a fair wage and strong benefits.

“Georgia’s best days are ahead of us, but only if we can bring labor along,” Duncan said. “That’s why, as governor, labor will always have a seat at the table in my administration.”
