The Southern District Training Trust Fund will hold an interior systems and scaffold combine in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 21. This one-day event is designed for individuals with or without prior experience in the trade who are seeking employment in the construction industry. During the event, participants complete a series of hands-on activities while employers observe their performance. Employers interested in a participant may offer an on-the-spot interview for potential employment.
“This combine provides an opportunity for motivated candidates to take the first step toward entering a registered apprenticeship program and securing stable, meaningful employment with reputable contractors,” said Jimmie Jordan, executive director of the SDTTF. “Our goal is not only to assess candidates but to introduce them to the training, standards and career pathways available through the Southern District Training Trust Fund.”
Instructors will be on site to provide guidance and demonstrate hands-on activities. Individuals without experience can gain valuable introductory skills and information about the SDTTF training program and free classes offered at centers throughout the 11-state region.
Attendees will have a chance to demonstrate their attitude and teachability through hands-on activities involving tools and equipment. Protective safety equipment will be provided, but attendees must wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and work boots to participate.
Along with the skills assessments, this event serves as a networking opportunity for those seeking employment or an apprenticeship that includes competitive wages as well as health and retirement benefits paid for by their employer. Register today and join us Saturday, March 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14 James Robertson Parkway in Nashville, Tennessee, 37206.
