Tax Fraud Day of Action Rallies

The Southern Regional Council of Carpenters is preparing for a demonstration in Miami, FL and Atlanta, GA for the Tax Fraud Days of Action. We are bringing attention to the growing problem of employer tax fraud in the construction industry, across the United States tax fraud committed by construction contractor’s costs states and federal treasuries $10 billion a year.

By Standing Up to Tax Fraud, we are standing up for our families, our industry and our communities. Moreover, illegal and low-road employment practices in the construction industry have forced 39 percent of construction worker families to rely on social safety net programs to make ends meet. That cost is a staggering $28 billion a year.

Crooked contractors are stealing work away from law-abiding businesses and their employees. Taxpayers are shortchanged of revenue needed to support first responders and improve schools.

Research, lobbying and action have helped to improve enforcement and bring some of the worst lawbreakers to justice. But much more is needed.
