SRCC Scores Major Goal at Golden Clash Match in Arkansas

The Southern Regional Council of Carpenters attended the Golden Clash soccer match, one of the most exciting events in North American sports.

More than 15,000 people attended the Golden Clash international soccer match between Club América and Club Tigres at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, AR.

SRCC organizer Victor Ballesteros worked with Shante Prude, Director of Member Engagement, to set up a tailgate and informational booth for the fanfest outside the stadium.

People who stopped by the booth learned about joining the union, available job opportunities, and the large-scale projects currently being staffed in the region by the SRCC.

“There’s work coming this way, in northwest Arkansas, Tulsa, and projects in east Texas, and we are strategically in the right place for it,” Ballesteros said. “We had people in the booth applying.”

Along with learning more about the union’s benefits, visitors practiced their drywall screwing skills for a chance to win a prize. Some experienced drywall hangers showed off their abilities against organizer Jorge Durini, and children even had a chance to practice a new skill.

“The event went really well, we got a lot of participation from the people who were there,” Prude said. “A lot of people don’t know about the SRCC.”

Prude says that this was a great event for educating the public, “Children really enjoyed racing Jorge on the drywall nail challenge, a lot of women were also interested and wanted to go against him.”

The SRCC Member Engagement and Organizing teams hope to continue finding opportunities to educate the community and have them connect with members. These events help spread the word to those learning about the union or who already have experience in the trade and are seeking the stability provided by the SRCC.
